Disney Vs American McGee by OMG-Chibi Disney Vs American McGee by OMG-Chibi
Slightly Exaggerated Comics
#16. What is this, I don't even...

Disney Cheshire looks like such a derpy doofus next to American McGee's cool cat.
If I become a director, I'm totally making an American McGee Alice movie.

Made in excitement of Madness Returns :D

I liked Tim Burton's Cheshire Cat best.  Only good thing about his Alice in Wonderland movie.

As if being edgy and pretentious is any better? For the record, I like both (but American McGee went into full-on pretentious mode, especially with Madness Returns).

All that psychobabble bugged me.  I missed the tight-lipped stoic Alice of the first game.

I feel like Madness Returns was trying to be poetic and deep, but the flowery dialogue often just devolved into shallow nonsense - and yeah, I get that nonsense is appropriate for the theme of insanity, but it was trying to be something it wasn't. Still, both games are something of a guilty pleasure of mine. What remains of my edgy, Hot Topic-shopping self from middle school continues to eat that garbage up.

And I agree with your comment above about the Tim Burton film! The Cheshire Cat was cool as hell in that. Shame everything else was so lackluster in comparison. That stupid dance at the end had me cringing in both instances.

The first Alice was probably the most rabidly political video game ever made, but it was subtle.  And absolutely brilliant!  Have a look at this political interpretation of the first Alice game:

I loved watching Tim Burton's Cheshire Cat float through the air.  Nearly gagged when his Alice came out in armor.

I like American McGee's cat. He seems to help Alice rather than getting her into trouble.

Unfortunately, The film version of American McGee's Alice is in development hell. though to be fair, I like all the versions of the Cheshire Cat. With, one exception of course (*cough*Care bears in wonderland's obnoxious rapping Cheshire cat *cough*)

Ever seen Whoopi Goldberg's cat? From the 90's movie with Tina Majorino as Alice? :dummy:

The Tim Burton cat was pretty cool, though.

I doubt either would last 5 minutes in eachother's Wonderlands. Disney's would die violently, and McGee's would go crazy in Disney's wonderland. Am I right?

Disney's Alice was kinda dumbed down, while McGee's Alice was really twisted. c:

In retrospect I think I prefer the doofy purple & pink beaver teeth over a anorexic tattoo/piercing paler pet shop amalgamation with blood on his teeth. Yeah I know I have blood I my dress but you know I also do my laundry does that cat EVER Brushie brushie brushie?

You know, in some ways, the Disney cheshire is creepier than McGee's... I mean, McGee's is SUPPOSED to be scary and weird, but the Disney one is supposed to be cute and friendly, which is unsettling... But that's just me. :D

Cats are not known for altruism, but AA's Cheshire Cat was less of a prankster than Disney's.

In fact, the original Cheshire Cat wasn't bad either. He kept Alice company and he kept his owner, the Duchess, from being executed.

Hey, don't hate Disney Cheshire cause he's pink and made to look cutesy!

Now don't get me wrong, American McGee's Cheshire Cat is badass and awesome looking. However, I am one for liking a character for what they are in their own right, not bashing them because of what they are in comparison to something else, and for what Disney Cheshire is in his own right, he's pretty awesome. He nearly got Alice killed. Sometimes I question if he could overrun the Queen of Hearts if he wanted to the same way he nearly got Alice killed. He probably could, but he doesn't because he'd much rather watch the bitch flip her shit. Now that's just awesome. Oh, and let's not forget who came first. ;)
